Fido's Fire & Ice Cream Truck
When Kaylee Krause of Mandan decided to pursue a degree in business, her mother suggested a way for her to get some real-life experience.
“I said, ‘Kaylee, if you want to learn business, own an ice cream truck,’” says Heidi Krause.
And that’s how Fido’s Fire and Ice Cream Truck was born. It’s a miniature version of a fire engine.
“We purchased the truck from a guy that does ice cream trucks,” Heidi explains. “They use these fire trucks up in the mountains in Japan, and we had it converted to an ice cream truck.”
Fido’s Fire and Ice Cream Truck started cruising the neighborhoods of Mandan in the summer of 2023.
“We started on July 4, and it has been full throttle ahead,” Heidi says.
Kaylee and Heidi also visit birthday parties and public events with their little red fire engine.
“My favorite part is doing this with my mom and being able to bring something to the community of Mandan that we haven’t had for a while,” Kaylee shares.
The truck carries 30 different options of ice cream treats in a cooler that holds about 1000 pieces for all the ice creams lovers.
“I named it Fido’s Fire and Ice Cream Truck because I care a lot about dogs,” Kaylee explains, “and I’m a dog mom ... I wanted to have an option for not only the humans but for the dogs as well. We have little cups that contain ice-cream-like treats that are frozen for dogs.”
It’s been a fetching experience for Kaylee and her mom.
“I feel it’s working out great,” Heidi says. “Not only is she learning business … she’s connecting with people in the community, and people are great. She’s seeing the good in all.”
